Vero Concepts is proud to announce its alliance with legendary bassist, David Hull. David has created quite the resume, and has collaborated with the greatest names in the business. Read below(pulled from his site) to learn more about him…
David is a songwriter, bassist, producer and composer whose career and creativity defy categorization. As a respected and sought-after collaborator, Hull is known not only for his intuitive, organic rock/blues/funk bass playing style showcasing blistering high-energy solos, but for his soulful, thought-provoking songwriting.
Based in Stratford, CT, David got an early start recording and touring with such greats as Buddy Miles, Joe Cocker, Ted Nugent and Arthur Lee and Love. These legendary performers trusted David’s innate ability to create the rhythmic force and harmonic framework of many famous songs including Buddy Miles’ hit, “Them Changes.” Hull’s unique songwriting skills became clear in the ‘70s when he founded rock band, the Dirty Angels as songwriter, bassist and co-producer of three albums: Rock & Roll Love Letter, Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye, and Dirty Angels.
David then was invited by long time friend, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry to join the newly formed Joe Perry Project as bassist and songwriter. Hull contributed a number of songs to Joe’s repertoire including the single, “Buzz Buzz” on I’ve Got the Rock ‘n’ Rolls Again and Let the Music Do the Talking.
After Aerosmith reunited, David formed the power rock trio FarrenHeit in the ‘80s with Charlie Farren and John “Muzz” Muzzy. Touring internationally and recording on the Warner Bros. label, they released their self-titled debut album, FARRENHEIT in 1987. Three singles from this album “Lost in Loveland,” “Fool in Love” and “Bad Habit,” co-written by Hull, established them as one of the new premiere rock acts, that received high praise throughout the country. Due to the enormous popularity of the band, FarrenHeit continues to perform special concerts in front of sell-out crowds today.
As David’s career and reputation expanded, he recorded and toured with roots rock bands Modern Farmer and Pete Droge then segueing his talents to the blues with Kat in the Hat, Monster Mike Welch, and the legendary James Montgomery Blues Band. Hull’s credits as a producer include Montgomery’s latest album, From Detroit to the Delta to be released in January 2011; and producer, co-writer and collaborator with George Lewis on the soon-to-be-released, Here Come the De La Vegaz, on Malaco Records.
Perhaps Hull’s highest profile gig to date occurred when Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton was sidelined by medical issues in 2006. David was tapped to sub for him during their international “Route of All Evil” tour with Motley Crue from August until December of that year. David continues his Aerosmith association, having toured with Aerosmith again, in Summer of 2009, and more recently, touring with the Joe Perry Project, promoting their new album, Have Guitar, Will Travel. 2010 found David touring with Motley Crue across the USA and Canada, followed by an invitation to join Bad Company’s triumphant UK tour, performing everywhere from Wembley Arena to the historic 100 Club on London’s Oxford Street.
As a composer for Film and TV, David’s credits include scores for the Hallmark Channel documentaries: Listening to Islam, The Future of Great Preaching, Wonder of Creation and the Hallmark Channel pilot At the Movies with Sister Rose, all produced by Lightworks.
Nowwith his first solo endeavor,” Soul In Motion”, released by OarFin Records, David Hull is looking forward to a fresh start. A chance encounter with producer Brynn Arens was the catalyst for the new project. Their instant chemistry combined with Arens’ enthusiasm for Hull’s songwriting brought them to Minneapolis to record. The solo cd includes his recent single “Pay Some Attention” featuring the famous Uptown Horns, Charlie Farren’s (FarrenHeit) stellar backing vocals on “Life So Far”, and Joe Perry’s unmistakable gritty guitar on the title song “Soul In Motion”.
Hull says Soul In Motion is about losing your preconceptions, leaving your comfort zone, and inventing something new. The end result is a complete work of art that inspires.
